چکیده
Eleven published articles (4 reviews, 7 research papers) are collected in the Special Issue entitled “Organelle Genetics Plants.” This selection of papers covers a wide range topics related to chloroplasts and plant mitochondria research: (i) organellar gene expression (OGE) and, more specifically, chloroplast RNA editing soybean, editing, intron splicing soybean during nodulation, as well study roles transcriptional posttranscriptional regulation OGE adaptation environmental stress; (ii) analysis nuclear integrants mitochondrial DNA (NUMTs) or plastid (NUPTs); (iii) sequencing characterization genomes; (iv) recent advances genome engineering. Here we summarize main findings these works, which represent latest on genetics, genomics, biotechnology mitochondria.

Organelle biogenesis and positioning in plants.
The biogenesis and positioning of organelles involves complex interacting processes and precise control. Progress in our understanding is being made rapidly as advances in analysing the nuclear and organellar genome and proteome combine with developments in live-cell microscopy and manipulation at the subcellular level. This paper introduces the collected papers resulting from Organelle Biogene...
متن کاملNext Generation Quantitative Genetics in Plants
Most characteristics in living organisms show continuous variation, which suggests that they are controlled by multiple genes. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis can identify the genes underlying continuous traits by establishing associations between genetic markers and observed phenotypic variation in a segregating population. The new high-throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies greatly f...
متن کاملPopulation genetics of fungal diseases of plants.
Although parasitism is one of the most common lifestyles among eukaryotes, population genetics on parasites lag for behind those on free-living organisms. Yet, the advent of molecular markers offers great tools for studying important processes, such as dispersal, mating systems, adaptation to host and speciation. Here we highlight some studies that used molecular markers to address questions ab...
متن کاملPneumoviruses: Molecular Genetics and Reverse Genetics
Pneumoviruses are responsible for significant respiratory disease in their hosts and represent a major problemfor human and animal health. Pneumoviruses are members of the family Paramyxoviridae, subfamilyPneumovirinae and the virus particles consist of a negative-sense, nonsegmented RNA genome within a helical nucleocapsid structure enveloped in a lipid membrane derived from the ho...
متن کاملGenetics and genetic improvement of drought resistance in crop plants
Drought limits the agricultural production by preventing the crop plants from expressing their full genetic potential. Three mechanisms, namely drought escape, drought avoidance and drought tolerance are involved in drought resistance. Various morphological, physiological and biochemical characters confer drought resistance. Morphological and physiological characters show different types of inh...
